THE Brazilian and Bikini Wax Basics

Trying on bathing suits is one of the best parts about the summer, but the one thing that all women know is that unsightly hair stubble is no fun, and uncomfortable. You should enjoy your time in the sun!

Having stubble while flaunting your fabulous, summer bod is not classy, so why not find a permanent way to rid your body of ingrown hair, and rock your bikini?

The Basics

In order to prevent ingrown hairs, make sure you know the basics of when it comes to a Brazilian bikini wax or just a regular bikini wax. The girls at Salon Helena provide the best professional and careful way to wax for bikini season.

Ingrown hairs are coarse hairs that naturally grow back into the skin after shaving or waxing. When shaving your bikini area, it is easier to cause ingrown hairs then when having that area waxed. However, waxing can cause some hair to break during the process, so before heading to your wax session, try these simple steps!

Make sure to exfoliate before heading to your appointment. Exfoliating not only keeps your skin smooth, but also rids that area of dead skin cells. This will ultimately lead to easier hair removal. Also, exfoliating helps your hair get back on track so it doesn’t curl back into the skin.

Brazilian Preparation

Yes ladies, number one fact, it will hurt or shall we say sting. However, to alleviate some of the pain or make it more “tolerable” try a couple tricks to make your appointment less painful.

Stay out of the sun, you do not want hot wax poured on your freshly sun infused skin. Being in the sun makes your skin sensitive, so make sure to stay away from those rays for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Also, think about taking an aspirin before your appointment, so the pain is dulled or reduced right after the wax.

And, lastly, know what to expect after your Brazilian wax.

Avoid Ingrown Hairs

Make sure to exfoliate, as stated before. However, avoid creams and moisturizers after your wax. This will clog your hair follicles, leading to ingrown hairs, which will be uncomfortably painful. Keep a natural flow of oils on the area waxed.

Don’t wear tight clothes, generally tight jeans after your Brazilian. Not only will tight clothes cause ingrown hairs, it will also cause irritation. Your skin needs time to breathe, you just put it through the ringer.

Most importantly, keep that area clean. If you have ingrown hairs and they become infected, it will be extremely painful. Wash that particular area daily and use regular soap.

Keep it Regular

Make sure to keep up with a regular routine for your waxing session. Naturally, every four to six weeks should be the time in between your bikini waxes. If you keep up with a natural routine, an aesthetician will have an easier time diagnosing your skin, and preventing ingrown hairs.
