Be Aware, Be Smart, Fight Back: Breast Cancer Awareness Month
We see pink. Everything is pink! October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and at Salon Helena, we want to celebrate you, ladies!
It’s important as women that we take the time and effort to make sure we take the preventative methods like early detection when it comes to breast cancer awareness.
Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women, affecting one out of every eight women1. As time marches forward, technology and research has given us the opportunity to fight back, but taking the right steps in prevention starts with you!
Preventive Methods
Prevention is the best method to fight against the disease. It can increase the likelihood of early detection, giving you all the possibilities of a full recovery. Take these preventative steps against breast cancer.
- Self-breast exams.
- Yearly mammograms.
- Yearly checkups.
- Educate yourself about the disease.
- If it runs in your family, stay on top of it.
- And, stay positive, remember to smile!
Even though breast cancer is prevalent in women, men should take part in yearly examinations and physicals; breast cancer can affect them as well.
As you get older, the chances of developing breast cancer increases in women, so don’t skip your yearly checkup!
Our Mission
At Salon Helena, we believe in helping out those who are fighting back against breast cancer.
When a client is enduring radiation and chemo, we are in the business of donating free haircuts before they shave it off.
Being proud of the person you are matters to us at Salon Helena, and a free haircut gives our clients the opportunity to experiment with styles they may have never considered. Having fun and being supportive is our mission!
We know breast cancer can be a challenging fight, but Salon Helena is here to help! Do what you can to increase awareness against breast cancer this October, and don’t forget to celebrate your womanhood! Be empowered.
