Being different can be fun, but if you’re not ready for a dramatic color change or shorter cut, try these affordable hairstyling tips.
- Updos. Experiment with numerous updos if you have longer hair. Pinterest is full of tutorials and pictures of different updos that you can try: poofed pony tail, French braid to a bun or a perfectly circular sock bun. All these updos are easy, and can be done in a matter of minutes.
- Yarn, Hair Feathers, or Extensions. Try adding simple accessories to your hair to add flare. Weave yarn into a side braid or a pony tail. Think about adding hair feathers for a month to switch it up or find hair extensions you can easily remove and add to your hair without the pain or extra money.
- Blast from the Past. Fix your hair to be from a different era. Most popular at the moment is a 40s pinup hairstyle, finger curls from the 20s or a classic faux bob. You pick!
- Rock Beach Waves or Bed Head. Experiment with the fact that you don’t have to fix your hair perfectly. Run your fingers through your hair, add some spritz and head out the door. Or try beach waves, which calls for a little more involvement, but curls can be loose and unstructured.
- Add Glamour and Glitz. Add accessories to your do like a barrette, jeweled bobby pins, glittery ribbon or a silk flower. These change-up adds attention to your hair without a new cut or color. This works really great for people with short hair and pixie cuts.
When deciding on a look or style to change it up this month, remember you don’t have to spend money on a color or cut—try something different than only requires a little bit of effort in the morning.
Sometimes simply trying a new updo or switching up the part in your hair can make you feel ten times better! Give it a shot!
